Obstacle Rudeness When the Cat Wears a False Beard

Still waters can't possibly run deep,
because the whole point of a still
is to remove the water.

This image is an homage to Rudolf Eb.er's artwork for the cover of the Ohne album 1.

Four-Legged Mystery Man

Four-Legged Mystery Man
The legs are twinned: 2 rights and 2 lefts.  They move sinuously, the 2 rights fighting to be the first to step onto the next tile (will it be black or white?), while the 2 lefts heft ballet shoes against each other.  It’s like a walking banyan.  The things you knew in the past, the things you would do in the past, are useless now—
Don’t listen to Bukowski.
Don’t emulate Tom Waits.
There is no “Nick Cave.”

My Studio

This is my studio, the Caboose.  It's my grandmother's old mobile home (built around 1981), the main portion of which is the storage area for finished paintings.
This is the "upstairs," where the paintings are kept.  These are just some of the paintings I've done over the past 22 years.
This is the "downstairs," the working portion of the studio.  It's a little roomed-in porch that my grandparents added on to the back of the trailer.  This picture is of my paint station, a wheeled tray I built.  I paint with acrylics and keep my keep my paints in old artichoke and pimiento jars.

The orange door leads to the upstairs.
This area is also where I work out every day.  I run the laptop through my stereo and listen to stuff while I paint.
The sink is fed by a garden hose running through the wall attached to the main house across the yard.  That's my guitar and amp on those blue risers.
And this is where I paint.  My easel is a shelf I can raise and lower on brackets screwed into the wall.  I've been painting in this space for over 22 years and it's become very homey for me.

My Little Book

This is Little Book #28.  I fill these little books up with ideas for titles or subjects for paintings, stories, songs, films, all kinds of stuff.  Sometimes I write poem-like things in them.  Here is a poem-like thing from this volume:

Valor Victorian
The little creature in the shadows beneath the shrub wears laced-up shoes.
Clinical hypnotist--the sleep of hippies in a vegetable juice.
The hippie noticed the hypnotist.
Blessings of sleep in a salad.
Your sleep calendar is here!

Even as a child I could not understand
how some local business
could use a known cartoon character
(like Bugs Bunny, for example)
as its mascot or logo.

Karma's Microwave

Karma's Microwave

Contemporaries intermeshed like lizard accomplices under the Big Wheel,
Once verified, Granny's bag was full of sweet oil, and now arranged--
These editing skills of mine are 4 little rubber feet,
One day I will move the mansion west,
Into the popcorn setting of the sun's bag,
Verified or not.
Hunt them all for down.
If you hum the theme song to "Remington Steele" you'll find that it's the same as the theme to "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cartoon.
