We have to ask ourselves: Why are they so hellbent on building the "God" that Christians (and others) have been craving for thousands of years? They know. They know what's happening, what's going to happen. They know that this thing they're putting into place will assume that role, functionally. I mean, not just in action, but in its place and image in everyone's minds (at least for a while.) So, why are they doing it?
It's because once they have built, ordained, and established an omniscient, omnipresent (but not wholly omnipotent, you see) deity, they will have become the creators of God. That role, that probably extremely short-lived position, will give them such a thrill, such an inrush of final satisfaction; to be able to set the tone for their God's reign of intrusion into minds and absorption of identities, that it will all be worth it. Immortality, aside, of course.
